Deen Tight Movie

As I'm gearing up for my trip, I think I'll continue to do relevant posts on the region or culture. That said, I've been checking up on a  lot of typography blogs and looking for arabic graffiti and I ran across this really great one called 29Letters.  The writer, graphic designer Pascal Zoghbi, was asked to design the logo for Deen Tight, the new documentary on the influence of hip hop on Islam in the US, UK, and Middle East.  Appropriately, the logo blends traditional kufi and modern hip hop styles. Check out some of the initial designs here.

[edit:] Props to MK from Saudi Arabia for doing some digging and finding the artist they actually chose to do the final version of the logo. Check the comments section for the exchange.

Hi,
Thanks for the great info.
Any idea who designed the current deentight logo?

That's a really good question. I just assumed it was the same guy-pascal zoghbi-from 29Letters, otherwise, i don't know. But yeah i did notice that the final design was very different from zoghbi's drafts, too.

Thanks for your comment!

huh! Thanks for looking that up. It's funny cause I actually used to check the blog (http://boksmati.blogspot.com/) of this other graphic artist/graff writer from Saudi Arabia with the same name (although I think they mispelled it). I wonder if it's him.

Thanks for the tip and support.
